DYW LED is excited to be working in partnership with the team behind Bothwell Futures to support 2 of our local high schools with an employability support project aimed at supporting a targeted group of 40 young people to move into the world of work. Uddingston Grammar and Holy Cross High School are the two schools identified by the Bothwell Futures team to gain the benefit of the employability support. DYW LED has called in the support of their employer and partner network to build 6 interventions aimed at building up the confidence, experience and leadership skills our young people will need as they start to look for career pathways beyond school. Most of the pupils taking part are in 5th year and over and the first intervention, led by the team from The Prince’s Trust Scotland was built around Employability Skills with a CV Workshop and Mock Interview role play exercises. DYW LED has also gained the support of the employability teams from NHS Lanarkshire and international engineering enterprise Laig O’Rourke to bring the project to life with a real-world slant on the skills and behaviours needed to be a success in the workplace. This is a great initiative set by the team at Bothwell Futures and with further interventions planned around confidence building, personal development and work placements, we hope to provide positive destinations for all of the pupils taking part.
