Investing Future’s In Construction
On the 20th of November 2019, at The Construction Scotland Innovation Centre in partnership with DYW, the Innovation Centre hosted an event aimed at showing the young people from local secondary and primary schools the different areas and aspects of future jobs within the construction sector.
The event consisted of 4 activities, each lasting 40 minutes, so the young people had the opportunity to participate in every session.
The activities featured on the day were:
- ‘Make your way in Construction’ which aims to show young people the different pathways they can take to get into a career in construction.
- ‘Build a wall with Sawyer the robot’ provides the young people with an opportunity to work hand in hand with robotic methods and equipment used in construction.
- ‘Virtual reality in Construction’ where young people use virtual reality equipment and learn how this technology is used within the construction industry.
- The final activity of the day was a ‘Reflective learning exercise’ which gave the young people the opportunity to discuss the different experiences and new tasks they had learned during the sessions. They also had the chance to ask any questions about what jobs will look like in the construction sector in the future.
