With over 500 young people from 20+ schools in attendance, we were treated to all elements of Scotland’s weather in May. From glorious sunshine and 24 degrees on the 21st of May, we were coping with monsoons and thunderstorms by the 23rd. The weather couldn’t hold us back as we were able to move the activities indoors for the last day, with the support of the amazing SLC leisure teams.
The young people from P7 to S6 had great fun completing activities from real life rifle shooting, hang tough and mine sweeping, it really was a great 3 days organised by the Army engagement lead Bruce McAulay.
Such was the success of this Army education programme, we have already booked this event to return again in May of next year and we will hopefully add the support of the RAF and the Royal Navy to further introduce young people to STEM opportunities through engaging with the forces STEM teams.
