DYW LED was delighted to be able to bring the return of the NextGen NHS Careers Event at the South Lanark-shire NHS Training Hospital in Kirklands, Bothwell. This NHS Careers Event was delivered on Thursday 5th of September 2024 after delivering record attendance numbers with well over 400 young people attending as a drop in face-to-face event for pupils, parents, teachers and guardians. We had schools and young people represented from year groups S2 to S6 and the success of these events is testament to the availability of careers information and professionals on hand to answer your questions.
NHS workforce teams from over 28 professions supported the event again from all parts of the hospital function from medicine to nursing and occupational therapy. This was a great day as the departments were able to exhibit mock theatres and surgical wards in a hospital environment. DYW were even in attendance to provide some healthy snacks and refreshments to promote healthy living and bring the event to life as the pupils, parents and carers were able to engage and ask questions from NHS Health Professionals.
