🔨 Scottish Apprenticeship Week – Building Futures with Mears & DYW LED! 👷♂️✨Phew! What a week – full-on, but absolutely AMAZING! 🔨👷♂️✨
As Scottish Apprenticeship Week comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what has been a truly inspiring, action-packed, and game-changing week for young people exploring careers in construction!
On the final day of Scottish Apprenticeship Week, Gavin Hay at Mears Group PLC welcomed 10 young men from St Margaret’s High School, all with a keen interest in the construction trades, to take part in a Mears Construction Talent Taster. They had the opportunity to work alongside the Mears Recruitment and Apprenticeship Team, gaining valuable insights and practical experience in:
🔹 Carpentry & Joinery
🔹 Plumbing
🔹 Electrical Installation
Thanks to the incredible efforts our #DYW School Coordinators, we’ve been able to attract and engage 40 young people throughout North Lanarkshire High Schools from Brannock High School, Buchanan High School, Airdrie Academy, and St Margaret’s High School, offering them a real-world taste of careers in the construction sector.
This has only been possible through the strong partnership between Mears and DYW LED, ensuring young people have:
✅ Access to industry-led learning experiences
✅ The chance to meet employers and apprenticeship mentors
✅ Support with PPE and breakfast to set them up for success 🍳🦺
And this is just the beginning! While Scottish Apprenticeship Week may come to a close, our commitment to providing career pathways for young people continues year-round.
